Review: X-Men: Second Coming #1
Second Coming #1 is a great read if you are an X-Men fan. The story really has the feel of some of those great X-stories from the early 90’s thanks to writers Craig Kyle and Chris Yost and artist David Finch knocks it out of the park with his work on this title. Bishop and Hope return to the present after hiding out in the distant future over in the Cable title this past year. When they return to the present though, things are not what they expected – for one the X-Mansion has been totally destroyed. I love the interaction between the different members of the X-Men in this title and seeing Cyclops lead the team while dealing with the weight of the world on his shoulders. On top of that, you have a fair amount of action taking place and a number of familiar X-baddies showing up to wreak havoc in the life of the X-Men and all mutant-kind. Oh, and did I mention how awesome David Finch’s art is in this issue? If you are a casual or hardcore X-Fan, this is one title I don’t think you want to miss. I look forward to reading the next chapter in this story which takes place in the pages of Uncanny X-Men #523.
