Batman And Robin #5
In Batman and Robin #5, the Red Hood is back. This time it’s ex-Robin Jason Todd under the mask who has set out with his new partner Scarlet to do what he feels Batman was never able to do - stop criminals in Gotham City… permanently. I’m not a huge fan of Batman comics without Bruce Wayne, but I have to admit that I am really enjoying this newest title to the Batman family and the work both writer Grant Morrison and penciller Philip Tan are doing on it. Morrison has a real way of drawing you into these characters, not just the heroes but the villains too. By the end of the story, I was more interested in reading about Red Hood and Scarlet and finding out what is going to happen to them than I was with Batman and Robin. The way Tan portrays these characters in a dark yet dynamic way is perfect for a story that takes place in Gotham City. After seeing The Red Hood in this story, I’m really hoping we see an action figure of him in Mattel’s DC Universe Classic line sometime down the road. The book is about Batman and Robinm but Morrison and Tan are the true dynamic duo of this title.
