Jonah Hex #49 is part 6 of a 6-part storyline called 6 Gun War which finds our scared cowboy hero on the hunt for Quentin Turnbull, an evil Virginian plantation owner who blames Jonah for the death of his son.

I never actually read a Jonah Hex story before so going in I didn’t really know what to expect, but I have to say writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray do a good job of keeping this character very simple yet interesting. Even though this was the final part of a 6-part story of a comic I had never read before, I really had no problems figuring out what was going on or who was doing what. Jimmy has done a wonderful job making a title that both long-term readers and new readers can really enjoy.

Cristiano Cucina does a decent job of portraying the old west and gives you that down and gritty feel of the type of character Jonah Hex is.
